MEDIA MAGAZINE

Following the missed lessons yesterday, please focus on your MEST 4 this weekend with the aim that you have a well structured outline of your CI and developed plan for your LP.

Please ensure that you bring al research to Monday's lessons AND have it on your weebly site.

Critical Investigation

It is NOT sufficient to simply have unedited or un-annotated text copied from other websites on your weebly, while it might be useful source material, it has not research value unless you have annotated, commented and explored it using the key concepts and the wider contexts as well as theory.

Remember that you MUST have a well documented bibliography which identifies al the sources you have used and are intending to use.

You must also have identified your Primary texts and ideally some secondary texts as well. Your access you these texts has to be up to you. I cannot provide you with DVDs though I will try and support where I can. Youtube is of course useful BUT be wary of re-edited or non-original texts.

Follow the check lists.

Linked Production

You must have a draft schedule for your production and enough detail in this to show how you are intending to shoot, where, when, with whom and for what purpose.

Think about:

What form is my Production: documentary, adverts, short film, informercial, website?
Do I need interviews?
Would I like to shoot in a studio?
How am I going to ensure that the sound quality is good?
What editing package, website building software would i like to use?
How many days will I need for filming?
Do I need to get permissions to film in any particular locations?
What equipment will I be using and where do I hope to get it from?
Do I need actors? How many? For how long? How will I find them?
Do I need sets and/or locations? What? where? when?
Who will help me on my shoot? what do I want them to do? How will I get their support?
Do I need photographs? sound clips? graphics? How will I acquire them?

The more detail that you go into at this stage the better planned you will be and the better your productions will be.
