In an effort to be positive, I am pleased that you all took the silent exam test today seriously and buckled down to work. However, as you know I am extremely disappointed with the level of commitment and quality of the work submitted in the last few weeks.
I will be making an assessment of your current grade for Units 4 and 6 based on the submitted work, which will give you an indication of where you are at present and we will spend Friday's lesson establishing where you need to get to, to get the grades that you seek.
It is imperative that all of you show a great deal more effort and not feel that you can coast through this subject, otherwise you WILL be undone by the exams in June and find yourself retaking in January 2010 to get the grades you need. I will also have to revise my UCAS grade forecast for you which is predicated on AS and our hope that you will develop during A2 and exceed your last year's grade not do worse.
Those of you who have not emailed me with outstanding essays - thank you Hamza - please do so asap.
Finally, do youselves a favour and watch voraciously any and all horror films you can from the perspective of GENRE: make notes on specific scenes and moments in the films; keep SHEP in mind, how and why do certain moment serve as examples; connect MIGRAIN with SHEP; read what film theorists have to say about the horror genre; develop your own theories and back them up...I could go on.
Spend a minimum of 4 hours a week of home study on the subject plus time spent watching films.
If you want to get level 4 or above you will need to read books and write notes on what you read, learn how to study independently rather than simply respond to the work we give you AND make sure you bloody well do the work we set!!!!!!!
Here endeth the lecture.
