A slight disappointment not to have everyone with us today and I do understand that illness is sometimes unavoidable, however, please could you all note that you MUST get your Unit 5 to Ms Thomas ASAP if you have not already done so.
Today P3 and 4 was used for work on Unit 5 apart from the last 30 minutes during which we returned to take a look at Unit 4 - Genre.
I have set those who were with me the task of studying two Vampire films of their choice and looking in detail at their plot, character types, setting and filming techniques and begin comparison of them. This is too lead us towards understanding in greater detail how this sub-genre is subject to wild variation and to begin to explore the Shatz's classifications of order and integration as well as ideological function.
Therefore in preparation for Friday, HAMZA, ANAM, KYLIE (Sanjay and Jess, you already know this) please could you ensure that you have chosen 2 contrasting Vampire files (not Blade or Interview with a Vampire), chosen scenes to micro analyse and compare along the lines suggested above. Also do some preliminary research into Shatz and Matt Altman, two important genre theorists.
